加入Ronald McDonald House Charities 这家位于惠灵顿地区医院对面的慈善机构（提供免费的食宿给重病在医院治疗的儿童的家人）需要面试，需要Reference check. 在通过面试后， RMHC的人事经理Melissa发邮件给我在Mary Potter Hopsice 的负责人Heather：
My name is Melissa, I’m the Volunteer Manager at Ronald McDonald House Charities in Wellington. He is going to be helping us with distributing some of our charity goods across the city and I was hoping you could vouch for him please. Perhaps you could comment on his reliability, honesty and trustworthiness. Thanks very much for your time, we’re looking forward to having him on board.

I know him though his volunteering at Mary Potter Hospice. He came to our shop last year . I’m sorry that I can’t tell you when he started. I’m not at work at the moment. But it’s some months before this last xmas.
He comes reliably for his shift and let’s us know if he is not able to come. His usual job has become serving at the till. I’ve not seen anything in the course of his work that gives me any cause for concern. In managing cash or goods in his role.
We’ve also had a few social activities that he has joined. He is a kind and considerate to other volunteers in and out of work. And to customers.

因为Heather邮件给我背书， 昨日（25年5月27日）我正式加入RMHC慈善机构。
我的第一个任务是将机构收到的一些捐赠物品但RMHC不再需要送给其他慈善机构。我从RMHC拿到了： 两箱婴儿奶粉、 一个新的安全座椅、10多个手工编织的婴儿帽、毛绒玩具、包装袋三捆、一架100个, 我的第一站是送到City Mission这个慈善机构， 他们提供过渡性住房、通过他们自己社会超市提供免费的食物援助，以及位于给遭遇危机的年轻人提供庇护所和心理健康重建。
以为这会是一件“轻轻松松”的事情，结果却变成了一场小小的冒险。昨天下午因为要把这些物品全数捐出去，我跑了五家慈善机构，包括RMHC（罗纳德·麦当劳之家）、Mary Potter临终关怀机构、市救助中心（City Mission）、圣约翰（St John’s）和救世军（Salvation Army）的慈善商店
我成功地把两箱尚未过期的婴儿配方奶粉捐给了City Mission Whakamaru，但他们无法接收其他物品。于是我又去了Karori的Mary Potter Hospice，想着那里的同事也许能帮上忙。不幸的是，他们只接受了一些婴儿帽，而婴儿座椅因为法律限制无法在店里出售，所以不能收。起初有位同事收下了，说是自用，但后来发现她朋友不需要，又退还了。我甚至开绝望的玩笑说，干脆自己生个孩子来用它！im gonna to make a baby
St. John’s Op Shop和救世军也都拒绝接受这个座椅。我真的有点沮丧，原以为是个“简单”任务，没想到竟然这么难——怎么会没人需要这么棒的婴儿座椅？难道惠灵顿人都不生孩子了吗？
和房东聊过之后，我决定尝试在网上出售它。我后来问Mesllia如果我卖掉了，你觉得我再把卖得的钱捐出么？
当然我很享受这段意料之外的冒险，也很开心能加入RMHC 我工作的第二家慈善机构。这样我同时有两份志愿者的工作。
而我的时机在恰当不过了，今天收到Melissa 的邮件邀请我参加下个月18号的一年一度的全体志愿者聚会。
